It's NaNoWriMo time and I completely missed out on Preptober!
I'm behind, behind, behind on reading and writing, but for some great reasons of course (for once)
As November starts to rear its ugly head here in Upstate NY (I saw snow on the weather forecast coming up, which I’m totally upset about) the positive thing about that is that NaNoWriMo is here! I quite literally have been so freaking busy that I just realized it’s in three days so I zoomed over to the NaNoWriMo website to get my project set up!!
This last month has been absolutely insane!
I published my second full length psychological thriller, Hometown Revenge: A Cruel Reckoning on October 13th (a Friday)
I got ENGAGED!!!
I’m now planning a wedding (I guess that’s the same as number 2)
I’m planning my first ever book signing in my former school district’s local library which is beyond super exciting
I’ve received even MORE Scribner books I need to read and review and am so grateful they want me to review their books before they’re published!
Now I’m trying to prep for NaNoWriMo
Hometown Revenge: A Cruel Reckoning
I’m not going to jump into a full synopsis of this novel because I’ve already done that in preview blog posts (that I will link here so if you want to read it feel free to visit!) and I’m more excited about the actual action of releasing my novel.
To say setting up pre-orders for Kindle was a nightmare would be an understatement. I messed it up so bad at 11 p.m. at night I deleted it, not realizing KDP will penalize you for this. Thankfully KDP knows mistakes happen, so you get like one override for when you mess up and they took the block off my account that would stop me from setting up a preoder!
FINALLY, I was able to get it set up and had it set to preorder for Kindle for about a month. One person preordered it, which I was so excited about! THEN leading up to my publishing date, they released a Beta that let me set up my book to automatically publish the paperback version and since it was all set up so long beforehand, it was released right at midnight on the date I wanted it published (Friday Oct. 13th)
My sales for this book have been absolutely amazing, and I’m so happy with them. It’s even better than 12,775 Days! And publishing this book has led to more sales for 12,775 Days as well :)
Engagement
So I had to do some work on a weekend, and brought by boyfriend along with me to help assist. In the process, we happened to have a photographer with us because that was part of the work project, and my boyfriend surprisingly went behind my back to ask him if he could snap some photos of HIM PROPOSING TO ME.
To say I was shocked was an understatement, and it’s next to impossible to surprise me. I was speechless, but so excited and now I’m lucky enough to call him my fiance :)
Wedding planning
Wedding planning is stressful, but fun. We live in a tourist area that’s always jam packed in any season that isn’t winter, so the places to choose from are abundant.
We’re currently waiting on a quote for one place we love, and have decided to go with sage green colors and a foresty type of ambiance.
I’ve ordered and tried many dresses, and am currently swapping out sizes and trying to find one I love. Hopefully it keeps going as smoothly as it has been.
My first ever book signing
With the release of my second book, the library I used to frequent has been talking to me about potentially holding a book signing! I’m so excited for this, and have dreamed of this day for so long.
I get that sometimes people don’t actually show up for book signings, so even if nobody shows up I’ll still be excited and grateful. I plan to create my own posters, get some bookmarks, and bring some copies of my books.
Scribner books galore
Scriber recently gifted me two more early books ahead of their release dates, and I can’t wait to dig into them.
Sex with a Brain Injury Annie Liontas
American Girls Jessica Roy
I plan to post further about these on my Instagram.
Other bookery
I recently finished a free copy of All the Little Raindrops I got with my first Prime deals (where you get to pick two free books with your Prime account on Kindle). That book was dark but I really enjoyed it.
It received a lot of one star reviews due to the content, because it contained a large amount of abuse and r*pe, however, Hometown Revenge contains that as well, and it made me feel just a little bit better about the potential, and understandable, reception the book may receive.
I’ve also purchased Britney Spears’ new memoir, and I still have Jamie Lynn Spears’ novel to read as well.
NaNoWriMo
I cannot wait to get started with nano!
I don’t want to give a lot away, but this time I’ll be going for more of a YA theme than a dark twisted messed up adult psychological thriller.
If you also participate in NaNo, let me know and we can be friends on there!
Also getting ready for NaNo this year!! Silver lining: you’ve got a 3 day lead :)
