Some of my unrealstic author/publishing goals I'm going to make realistic (LOL)
Harnessing my ADHD can be so beneficial- I exceed even the realest of expectations (but I also fail really hard at others)
Luckily for me, I have a really over-the-top fear of failure, so anytime I set an unrealistic goal, the chances of me accomplishing it are actually decently high. There are exceptions, of course.
Yesterday I brought up the goal of selling 5,000 copies of 12,775 Days in one week to make the New York Times Bestseller list. Now, obviously I’m aware that’s more of an ‘unrealistic’ goal, mostly because the success in that is in the hands of people who choose to buy, or not buy, my book.
When it comes to goals that are more in my own control, I’m likely to meet them.
My more realistic goal and plan
Every summer there’s a huge art show along the lake near where I live, and renting booths is so expensive. Part of why it’s expensive is because people sell original art for hundreds of dollars. The show is very specific on what it allows in, and the biggest rule is anything sold must be original art, no mass produced items.
I reached out to the people in charge of the show and they let me know that because my book is originally written and published by me, I would be able to sell it there.
This lead me to thinking- what if I wrote a couple more before the sale at the end of July? That gives me almost 4 months to keep writing, and at the moment I’m already deep into my second full length suspense/thriller/horror novel.
Hint: It involves a buffet and murder
I have had some major changes lately in my life, and they’ve given me the opportunity to continue my writing and devote entirely full work days to it.
I want to have 2-3+ original, self published books in time for me to sell them at the lake.
That being said, 12,775 Days drops the day after tomorrow!
I am so beyond excited to publish my book on Wednesday (aka tomorrow night at midnight).
I will have it available through Amazon via kindle and paperback. If you have Kindle Unlimited, you’ll be able to read it there as well! As soon as the link is live for purchase, trust me, there will be a newsletter.
I’ll leave you with this:
