My mental health feels like scrambled eggs as I prepare for the publishing of my first full length novel
Not only that, but soon I'll be able to devote 8 hours each day to my writing, publishing, and promoting!
The time is near- in just four short days I will be publishing my first ever full length suspense novel, and I am scared. But I’m also so incredibly excited!
I have been doing everything in my actual power to promote this book in an over-saturated market where everyone believes they have the next best thing. Is mine the best? Probably not, but it’s the best to me.
I’ve successfully had three people with book social media accounts either agree to review a copy I send or have asked me themselves for a copy of the book. That’s quite literally an honor to me; someone is asking me if they can read and promote my book!
I’m devoting more time to writing and my books
Many people are aware that I have writing degrees, but more specifically I have two, and one is for creative writing. I’ve taken multiple courses on how to construct creative pieces of writing ranging from poetry to full length novels. As an avid reader, novels are the route I’ve chosen to go. My other degree, my bachelor’s, is for writing and rhetoric. This degree helped teach me how to write at the highest technical level. Combining these two, I have confidence that I can create some pretty great novels.
Goals
My first goal is to try and sell enough books to make certain lists. I’ve read if you sell 5,000 books in one week, you’ll make it onto the NYT bestseller list. Am I going to do that right away? Probably not. Am I going to aim as high as humanly possible by pushing the book as much as I can every single day? Yes.
I’m actually currently working on my second novel while I do everything in my power to promote my first book. My goal is to finish this book by the end of April so I can do it during NaNoWriMo! National Novel Writing Month is one of my favorite events, and 12,775 Days was actually my project for the month of November. Camp NaNoWriMo happens in April, and I can’t wait.
Most of all what I want to do is spend a full work day busting my ass to see success in the author world. This is what all of my degrees are for- and I’m hoping and praying with hard work I’ll get there some day.
I’ll leave you with this:
