I vlogged my day running basic errands in the Finger Lakes Region as a boring, average person working toward becoming a bestselling author
Warning it's boring, but also interesting if you're basic like me because I love boring vlogs (lol)
So yesterday I had a meeting in Geneva and needed to be there by 11:45 a.m. I also had a million other errands to run so I figured I would make a vlog detailing my day in the Finger Lakes Region.
I think the Finger Lakes are one of the most beautiful places in the world to not only vacation, but to live. In my apartment building there are a lot of people from other places like California who choose to fully live here but just for the summer months. That meand you aren’t only going to be doing vacation things, but you’ll need to shop and cook and do all the other day to day things as well, so I thought it would be fun to cover an average day.

After getting gas, I hit Big Lots in Geneva first
Big Lots has always had a special place in my heart because when I was too poor to afford placed like Bed Bath & Beyond (which is probably why they went under because who can afford that) Big Lots came in to save the day. I’ve never had an issue with their quality and especially love their home decor.
Today I just needed toilet paper and to browse because I had some time to kill and was impressed with a lot of what I found. Recently Big Lots in Geneva expanded on their clothing options, and they had some super cute leggings and sweatsuit sets! I of course grabbed my boyfriend some Pokemon cards (he didn’t like the ones I got but we had both never seen them packaged that way so I wanted to look and he basically said they seem “used” lol), my toilet paper, and these super cute moccasins that looked just like all the ones we wore back in 2008.
Sweet Acres Creamery
After this I hit my meeting then stopped at a place called Sweet Acres Creamery that’s been around for awhile but I haven’t had a chance to check out. It’s an Amish store with tons of really great homemade products along with different types of meat. You can get beef and chicken, steaks, and even grassfed beef. I ended up grabbing some snacks I know by boyfriend would like and these really great cheddar dogs for dinner which were AMAZING (we ate them last night).
Sweet Acres Creamery also has a cafe where you can order food and drinks, but I didn’t have the time to go there. From what I could see there was a rustic feel and it looked busy! The left side of the building looked like a grocery store and the right side had the cafe.

Lowe’s & Walmart
Finally, I headed to Lowe’s to grab some of those giant ziploc bags that exist for storing clothes and blankets because we’re moving soon and I needed to get a bunch of my clothes put away from winter. I also grabbed Brioche buns for the cheddar dogs at Walmart and at first I was annoyed because they’re like five bucks (regular buns are way cheaper but also in the back of the store and I really did not feel like walking all the way back there) but they were DELICIOUS and I will now never eat hotdogs without those types of buns again.
Why would I write about such boring things and bore people to death?
So while I will admit that I think this is likely very boring content, it’s what I, a 32 year old woman, finds interesting. My days are mundane, I am a normal millennial woman, and my days are filled with reading, writing, and running errands. Cooking dinner. Cleaning my apartment. I’m not a traveling amazing blogger (I wish) but I still find joy in the day to day boring activities. I live in one of the most beautiful places in the U.S. and I want to share all of it, not just the exciting vacationing spots. But I will share those too.
Some of my favorite content is stuff like this.
What’s happening with my writing and reading? (This blog has almost nothing about that so far, but you’re Samantha Parish Author?)
Yesterday I did not have much happening in the way of writing or reading.
I’ll share this: I have come up with a concept for a middle grade level book series that involves mysteries and other fun stuff. I have built out an 8 chapter book that I’m aiming to finish around 25k words. That means I need an average of 3,125 words per chapter. I’m currently halfway through chapter one, and I’ve also begun the buildout of book number 2. I have a plan for 4 books right now, but really I believe I have a working list of about 12 books for the series.
I’m still working on Beverly at the Buffet, but have since drafted a new name for the book. I needed to step away for a bit because writing that book was like banging my head into a wall, but I feel ready to go back.
I’m currently reading The Island by Natasha Preston, and I’m excited to finish it and write a review; so far it’s been great.
