Author reading events & launching my first YA thriller (plus a sneak peak at far-future book plans)
Author life and real life have been busy but this week was special because I was able to return to a local library for a reading and I'm on my way to finishing up my YA's edits!
This week was for sure more chaotic than normal and it’s taken the entire weekend to recover, but before my weekend of peace and respite, I had a book reading/signing for the second time at a local library and it had a great turnout for being at 3 p.m. on a weekday!
My third reading and being a local author
Being an indie author is no easy feat; I work a 9-5 on top of cranking out books and working as my own marketing person, designer, editor, and everything else that goes into making a book. The best feeling in the world is to finally go out and connect with readers who have read my book or have an interest in reading it.
For this reading I focused on my most recent re-publication of Beautiful Burning Bitch.
I chose a poem from each section that resonated with me and discussed the process and very personal story I have with this collection of poetry. This book doesn’t shy away from the chaos I’ve put myself through and I urge anyone going through anything to give it a try.

We’re almost ready for the release of Mean Girls and Small Town Murders!
I’m in the final editing stages of Mean Girls and Small Town Murders. I’ve made some significant changes; first if you’ve been following along, you’ll notice I dropped the “podcast” part of the title. The story didn’t end up forming the way I needed it to in order for that to work once I brought it to life (crazy that authors are literally creating a world but the stories and characters really do take on a life of their own). So, that part is dropped and the newest title is just Mean Girls and Small Town Murders.
One of the things I love the most about writing indie novels is sharing the process with everyone around me, including any and all changes that go into a piece of work. The cover is fixed, title is changed, and I’m cleaning up the grammatical errors. The copy I have in my hand is hopefully the second-to-last copy before the official one, and it’s filled with all of the plot edits. My goal is to have this out by the end of the summer in time for spooky season.
Sneak Peaks with little context for future work
Because context sucks the fun out of eager anticipation! And they have yet to exist in more than my head and in a plotted layout.
