April's Current and Future Reads: All the books I'm currently reading and hoping to read between now and the end of April (plus other updates)
If I'm being honest it's unlikely I'll get to them all but a girl can hope right? For the sake of reality, I'll only post the books in chunks
April is the first month I’m really trying when it comes to reading and writing as a whole. Promoting my book has been hard work, but I’ve spent so much on Kindle books (my New Year’s resolution was to get rid of tons of books, which I did and focus on ebooks) and now that I’m on a grown-up job hiatus, I feel the need to write and perfect and read as much as humanly possible.
Current Read:
By current, I mean start tonight because I’ve been creating Canva Instagram content ALL day long and I’m over it.
Fantasy Land is a book I found suggested on a thread on Reddit under the Yellowjackets subreddit. Someone asked for books that were similar to the plot of the hit Showtime show (one of my FAVORITES) and I found this one! I know I said I was only going to use ebooks moving forward, but this book was like $1 less for the ebook version so I just bought it. Tyler will get over it, it still fits on my bookshelf.
What’s interesting about this book is that it’s written in a documentary/interview format (but with words). From the sounds of it it’s about teens getting trapped in a theme park called Fantasy Land during a storm or hurricane (?) and it turns into a Lord of the Flies situation. Hopefully I’ll have this one done by the end of the week.
Future Reads:
The New House is a book I started, but haven’t gotten deep into yet and wanted to read Fantasy Land first. This follows three couples and has something to do with their purchasing of each other’s houses, and I know it’s a psychological thriller. I also noticed interestingly different and strange formatting early on, but it may just be one page.
This is Where It Ends is actually free on Kindle if you have Prime! I bought the paperback years ago and haven’t gotten to it yet, but I love a good YA fiction novel, so I’m excited to read this one this month. It’s currently in my stack of to be reads. One of the things I’m excited about it that this book is told over the span of just 54 minutes from four different students’ POVs. It’s also a story of a school shooting I believe, which is incredibly relevant today. What’s horrible about that is that this book was written in 2016 and it’s 2023… not much has changed.
I’m trying to make as much advertising content as possible for 12,775 Days (currently available on Amazon)
And I’ve finally started to reveal content for my current WIP Beverly at the Buffet (everything is subject to change with this because it’s currently IN PROGRESS)
(I’ll be posting more about this on Instagram tomorrow)
I’ll leave you with this:
